Joei Waldron

Joei Waldron is a choreographer and teacher working throughout Southern, CA. Originally from Washington, DC, Joei has had the opportunity to work with some of San Diego and LA's most prominent choreographers to include Marie de la Palme, Victoria Marks, Patricia Rincon, Debbie Toth-Ward and Tessandra Chavez. Joei's works have been acclaimed for their "rhythmic fusion of modern, funk and hip-hop" (Luellen Smiley, Del Mar Times) and for being ambitious and well directed (Kris Eitland, sandiego.com). Some of Joei's choreography highlights include; The World Famous Choreographers Carnival, at the Avalon in Hollywood, CA, the Arizona Dance Festival, held at the Tempe Center for the Arts, Tempe, AZ; Traffic, directed by Tessandra Chavez of Unity Dance Ensemble and the hit TV series So You Think You Can Dance; Sea World Summer Nights, San Diego, CA, Mix Match Dance Festival, held at the Electric Lodge in Los Angeles, CA, Bravo San Diego Performing Arts Festival, Westgate Hotel, San Diego, CA, Celebrate Dance Festival of San Diego, The 53rd International Choreographers Concert, held at the Spotlite Theater in Edinburgh, Scotland and the 55th International Choreographers Concert, held at the Sala Cuatra Pared Theatre in Madrid, Spain. Joei is the Founder/Artistic Director of Axxiom Dance Collective, a San Diego based repertory dance-company. Under the direction of Joei Axxiom has grown into one of Southern California's prominent dance companies. In May of 2005 Axxiom was awarded Bravo San Diego's Performing Arts Organization of the month. Joei is currently on faculty at Palomar College and TVT Day School. Joei holds a BS degree from Salisbury University and an MA from San Diego State University.
